"Getting your location, Please wait..."
I downloaded the free trial for blackberry but cannot get a GPS signal at all.  I have no trouble getting a GPS signal from Google Maps, BB Maps, Garmin Mobile, or any other GPS app I have tried.

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 and I am on the Telus Mobility network in Canada.  Any suggestions?

Thank you.

The only suggestion I can offer you right now is to go into options - applications on your BB and scroll to the Geocache Navigator application.  Menu it and look at properties or application permissions.  Make sure all the permissions listed undeer the application say "Allow" - especially the one that says it has access to the GPS.  When done press the Esc key and choose to save your changes.

It's possible when you loaded the app if it asked if you wanted it to be trusted and you said No, or some other slip of the thumb happened and you accidentally restricted it somehow.

Maybe you'll get lucky and I found the problem!

I have the same problem.  I checked all of my permissions but I still cannot access the GPS.  I have a BB Curve and use T-Mobile.  I have enabled my GPS.  Please help.

Re: "Getting your location, Please wait..."
Are you able to use other applications like BB Maps with the GPS? That would be the first thing I check.

The GPS in the Curve historically sucks. Sometimes it can take up to 15 minutes for it to find your position - especially if you have moved any distance since the last time you used it. It's also prone to losing signal when you go under an overpass, get under a tree, or wear it on your side, and then it can take a couple of minutes to wake up again.

GCN is not very tolerant of a prissy GPS signal. When it goes to look for it it expects it to be there and be ready to go, or it gives up fairly quickly.

My suggestion would be to go into BB Maps, press menu and say Start GPS Navigation. Wait until your location is found in BB Maps - then you know you have a valid GPS signal. Now hit the red hangup button and that will leave BB Maps running in the background. Go into the menu and fire up GCN. Give it a minute to give you the green bars, and if not exit out of it and then immediately go back in. Give it another minute to sync up. Sometimes I've had to do that several times to get the green bars and have it be happy. If it doesn't work after several tries of that then reboot the phone using ALT - RightShift - Del and wait for it to come back awake. Then try GCN again. If it doesn't work after a minute fire up BB Maps again and go back and try GCN again.

Once you get it going it is easier from them on, and you also know what you have to twiddle with to get it going.

I use an external BlueTooth GPS and I can tell from the lights what is going on. I have to turn on my GPS and wait the 45 seconds for it to locate itself and then fire up GCN. If my blue light doesn't start flashing within about 30 seconds (meaning GCN is asking for GPS) then I exit out and go back in. Once my bluetooth light starts flashing I know it's happy and i'll get the green bars a few seconds later...
