Tour 9630

I dumped my Storm2 and went to a BB9630. I archived the app on My World, and when I went to re-install it on the new phone it says it is "Unavailable For This Device". Anyone experience and get through this?

Try downloading the trial by going to http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/rim/get and see if it will run. Trimble keeps track of your registration by your phone number, so if your phone number is the same it might just recognize you - can't guarantee it.

When you download the app from AppsWorld, etc the version looks different because they add their own registration code to the app so you have to register it with them, but I "think" when they register it with trimble they use your phone number...

Even if you only get the 30-day trial from downloading it this way it will still give you a chance to make sure it works right on your new device.

help I've downloaded the free trial from from appworld, I got the geocaching acct and set up both my phone and the geocache navigator software as my defaults. i can find the caches and see them on the map but nothing on the radar of the compass. Darn it I wanted to give it a try this weekend. Any suggestions? I downloaded the manual and it seems like once you select a cache the compass and radar should do the work. Am I missing a step? Do I have to buy the monthly subscription for the trial to work? I am lost. Thanks.

You need to make sure you are getting a GPS fix. It IS possible to get caches - for example, if you say find caches near a zip code or something that is not GPS-based you can get the caches, but in order to see the radar or have the compass work you need a GPS fix.

Make sure you can run something like BlackBerry Maps and see your location in there. When you do, press the red end call key - that will shift BB Maps tot he background. Now run GC Navigator and give it a minute to see if the GPS bars in the upper right corner turn green. If they do you are set to go. If not, exit out of GC Navigator, wait 15 seconds and go back in. Sometimes it takes a couple of hits to get the GPS synced up.

If you have never used a GPS app on your BB before and you are using the internal GPS it can take up to 20 minutes the first time, standing outside under open sky, for it to find your position. BB Maps will time out several times telling you it can't find a GPS signal - just go right back to the menu and tell it to look for the satellites again. I have had to do this with BB Maps on occasion if it is the first time or if you are a long way from the last GPS fix you got - it can take forever to find itself, but if you are persistent it works well.

Hopefully that will help. I have chosen to use a Bluetooth GPS puck that is separate from the phone - it is much more reliable for my purposes and the GPS is more sensitive than the one built in to the BB - you are looking at a $75 investment though, so I would get it working with the built-in GPS first...
