Getting coordinates for hidding caches
I am currently using my BB8900 with Geocache Navigator and am ready to hide my own caches.  I need to know the procedures for marking the coordinates for my cache hides.  Can anyone help?

Re: Getting coordinates for hidding caches
That's hiding caches...not hidding.  Duh!

Re: Getting coordinates for hidding caches
It's not an exact science with a BB, but if you look on the "Find Caches" menu you will see a selection that says "enter manually". Stand as close as possible to where you hid or want to hide the cache and then select "enter manually". The coordinates that display will be where you are.

Do this at least 3 times - hit back on your phone so you are back to the menu, walk away from the cache site at least 50 feet in a different direction and then come back. Go to "enter manually again".

Write down all 3 sets of coordinates you get. If they are all pretty much the same, if there are two that are most alike use those coordinates. If you get 3 completely different readings then average them and pick something in the middle of them all.

The accuracy of the built-in BB GPS is not all that wonderful, and doing this gives you 3 separate chances to get it right, and 2 chances to verify your coordinates are accurate - before you get some poor geocacher looking someplace 50 feet away from where you hid the cache! :o)

Note that the coordinates DO NOT move on the manual screen like a traditional GPS. You must exit out and come back to get them to refresh. That is on the list of feature requests we've submitted to trimble over time, but hasn't been done yet.

Thanks for the response. I'll give it a try.

Re: Getting coordinates for hidding caches
Or you can download a program called Blackstar for blackberry, its free and works like a real GPS. Gives pretty accurate cords also.
