problem finding caches / GN1006
hey there!

first of all: thanks for that great piece of software! before i knew GN i thought that it would be cool to develop a geocaching tool for GPS-enabled smartphones with which you can search for caches in your vicinity, read descriptions and so on... then i found GN which was even better than what i had in mind. great job! thanks!

but as i can hardly imagine geocaching without it anymore, the more fatal is the problem i have sometimes when i am searching for caches is to me! when i am looking for caches i sometimes get an error message "unexpected error, GN1006" => java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException. it first appeared very rarely, but today GN refused to find caches at all! the error appears when i hit "find them" or "quick cache" (the filter settings do not seem to have any effect).

interestingly the error appears to depend on the internet connection i use. right now retrieving caches using my wlan works fine, but connecting via 3g results in the error as described above. any other application works fine with that 3g connection. resetting the phone does not help, too. might be an issue with my ISP, possibly it blocks the needed ports in a non-deterministic manner or does other bad things to the data, but the error message still looks strange to me...

i run GN on my N95, using the internal gps receiver or a holux m1200 bluetooth gps receiver in woody terrain (by the way, that receiver works fine with GN). there are several megabytes of free memory available on both the internal memory (where GN is installed) and the microsd-card.

i would be glad to provide you any further information you might need. keep on your great work!

Re: problem finding caches / GN1006

Hello,

today i got email with the post of hannes and i saw that i am not alone with this problem. Since yesterday i get the same error messsage in GN running on my N95.

Origin text:  'An unexpected error occured. (GN1006) If this problem persists please contact...'

 Details: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException

Yet i tested it with my WLAN at home and it works fine (like hannes system) but if i use 3G or GPRS-Edge connection it doesn't work. Other applications work fine, e.g. GoogleMaps (latest version) with lookup on landmarks db in my N95.

May be a problem with my ISP too? I don't know. Please help us! Wanna go geocaching as soon as possible.

By the time, there's a feature request: I am missing to make a waypoint-prejection from where i am. Sometimes there are caches, who afford to make a waypoint-projection.

greetings

ggc

Re: problem finding caches / GN1006
Hi,

I could not reproduce the error you had received. In the interest of helping us solve the issue, I recommend that you download the debug build of the software to your phone (See below). This build will not solve the problem at hand. Instead, it will give us more error's details which are valuable to the engineers. The build can be found in the following link:

http://locust.trimble.com/~sta/

go to the directory geocache_navigator_adSupport/
and download the app-prod-geocachenavigator-6110.jad file to your phone

This new build will get your more details on the error if you select Details in the Error screen

Thanks,

Son Ta
