Is there some place on the site that will tell me if there is a newer version?

No, but we should definitely list on the site the latest version number, when it was released, and what updates are included.  We published 2.0.4 several weeks ago.

I just purchased a new monthly subscription through Handmark and downloaded version 1.5.3 where do I need to go to get the latest version?

I wonder if you can just download the trial software, which is probably the latest version.
